If you follow me on social media you’ll have seen me share previews and updates on my fabric designs. I am pleased to announce they are finally available on Spoonflower, woohoo! In this blog post, I’ll talk about my Paige Joanna Fabric designs and inspiration behind them. Keep reading to find out more.
Paige Joanna Fabric Designs
The collection is inspired by my love of nostalgia and food, with a retro feel to the illustrations and prints. I wanted to create some fabric designs that would feel fun, summery and make you happy just looking at them. I have a quirky style and love fabrics to reflect that so I can turn them into fun dresses and clothing pieces.
There are 4 designs in the collection; The Ice Lolly print, Fruit Print, Party Ring Biscuit Print and, Strawberry Print. I chose a colour palette based on the trends this year so that they would match other looks on the high street or in your existing summer wardrobe. I tried to be mindful of tones so that there is something for everyone.
Spoonflower Shop
I decided to stock my fabric designs on Spoonflower because they are a great marketplace for designers. I am able to focus on the designs themselves and then upload them to my shop page. You can choose whatever print you like and whatever fabric you want to print on. Spoonflower then processes the order and dispatches the fabric. I then make a small percentage of the sale. This means I focus on the design and don’t have to worry about dispatch, labor costs, etc! It’s a great way for designers like me to put our work out there and so I can make my own designs into my dream clothing collections. When you order on Spoonflower you are supporting small creators and businesses like mine, as well as getting something really unique.
What to make
Turn the fabric into your own creations! I decided to order one of each print so I can make something for myself to wear. My favourite is this Ice Lolly Design in the Teal and I decided to make it into a Tilly and the Buttons Stevie Tunic Dress. I chose this style for it’s laid back shape and no fussy darts, meaning the fabric can do all the talking. I can’t wait to style it with sandals and a cute wicker bag.
