Soppy alert for this blog post guys, so sorry in advance for all those Valentines haters. I want this to be a post not only to talk about my best friend and love of my life but also to appreciate love itself in any form. Yeah, I kind of agree that Valentines day is another marketing and sales holiday to make money from people, but at times it’s hard not to be drawn in, especially when January is so cold and miserable. For me though, i’m lucky because we also have our anniversary on the 12th February, meaning this time of year is more about celebrating that than the made up holiday.
We don’t usually go mad and aren’t the types to spend hundreds of pounds on each other! What I love is simply appreciating the day, going out and doing something nice and making memories. Like these photos I have uploaded, they remind me of spending University together and essentially growing up together through Uni when really you are learning who you are! It is such a crucial time in anyone’s life, to discover themselves (in my case as an artist), what you want to do as a career and growing up for the first time. I got to do all these things with the love of my life. We met on the same course at University and to be honest I did that cliche thing of knowing he was the one almost straight away!
I think this year will be a special valentines for us because I am taking him to London for 2 nights. We are going to use the time to explore the area we are moving to and go for yummy meals! Of course, no girl would say no to a gift if they had a choice, and I really admire Pandora and the sentiment of getting something new for each special occasion. What’s even better is they have an App for valentines where you sign up by adding ‘a wish to the wishing tree‘. This basically means you can write a sweet message to your loved one and it will be sent to them virtually. You can write any thing you want and choose your favourite styles in the options provided, all of which get’s sent to your loved one. It is essentially a huge hint but it’s a rather cute concept.
For me i’d be happy with a nice card and a fun day out being our silly selves but a bit of sparkle never hurts!! haha.
How are you spending the day? With a loved one, partner, friend, family?? I’d love to know in the comments what you are all doing for it. Lots of love guys.
