photo IMG_3001_zps7c11ed5e.jpgYesterday was a really great day. Me and my boyfriend went round my mum’s house (where I used to live) to spend the day with her and get up to lots of lovely things. A couple of weeks ago I brought this wicker bag from a carboot sale for 50p, but felt like it needed a bit of cheering up! I decided to put a small DIY together to show you how you can spruce up old items you maybe don’t use anymore, or cheap finds at charity shops or thrifted. So I hope you enjoy this post.
What you will need:
*1 wicker style bag
*Scissors
*Your favorite selection of ribbons
*Needle and thread
*Buttons (or any decor, sequins, patches, whatever you fancy)!

Select the things you want to use on your bag, keep it minimal or go as crazy as you like, that’s up to you to decide! I chose a really lovely pastel scalloped lace I brought on ebay ages ago, I have been saving it for ages and this was the perfect opportunity to use it. I also chose this selection of buttons from my collection. The floral ones are hand painted from the V&A museum, a fab birthday girl a couple of years ago.

Hand stitch on the trim, around the edge is best! Don’t fret about having perfect stitching, just have fun with it.

I still have a few buttons left to sew on but this is pretty much the finished bag, how adorable it makes it look and just transforms a dull looking bag to a unique one. Perfect for my style especially with the outfit I have styled below. Tweet me to ‘paigecalvert1’ if you manage to try something like this for yourself.

As I said at the start I went to visit my mum and we got up to lots of lovely things. We relaxed for a while drinking tea, sewing on sequins to a costume for my sister and ate a nice lunch my boyfriend prepared. We also ventured out to a sweet place near by with small shops, lots of which had fantastic collectibles, housewares and antiques. I loved looking round and thinking of all the things I would love to have in my flat, (when I can eventually move out)! even Chris saw things he liked, including a buzz light year toy!

^ I wanted to buy this cushion but it was perhaps a bit too ‘shabby chic’ for my boyfriend to accept! haha.

^ Going to go back and get these fan old fashioned scales!

Yesterday was a glorious sunny day, so it was the perfect chance to wear my aqua dip hem skirt from Sheinside. The skirt has an elastic waist it’s really comfy along with being really light weight and feminine. I wasn’t sure how to style it at first and tried it on with crop tops and a floral bralet but ended up tucking in this thin lacey blouse. Really love how it looks, I feel like the country setting is perfect for it. My necklace is a cute pastel, small embellished style from accessorize! The floral sandals set the look off nicely, and I brought these about 4 years ago from Zara! they come out every summer and I still love them just as much. What do you think of my outfit? What would you wear with this style of skirt?
