It’s a gifting season, which is one of my favourite times of the year. I love choosing really personal gifts, and I often take a long time mulling over the perfect choice. If you are a maker or are looking for a creative gift idea for a loved one, you’re in the right place. In this blog post is a list of Sewing and Craft Gift Guide ideas from small independent, and awesome brands that I love, let’s get stuck in!
Sewing and Craft Gift Ideas
There are so many lovely things you can gift someone who has a sewing or crafting hobby but if you’re not sure what to get, then it may be tricky to find the perfect gift. In this blog post, I wanted to put together a list of lovely options that would make ideal gifts. There is a mixture of craft kits, sewing notions, sewing accessories, personalised gifts, and more! I hope you like the round-up of items, and if you can please support these lovely brands.
I’ve also put together a huge list of sewing, craft, and other items here on my Amazon Store front! So if you like to put together a wishlist for yourself or others on there, I’ve saved lots of items I use daily.
Podgekins:
I couldn’t do a Sewing and Craft Gift Guide without a little honorable self-plug of my brand Podgekins. If you want to make a doll to gift someone, or perhaps want to gift the sewing pattern to someone then they are a great gift idea. I’ll be at a few markets in Portsmouth this month, and next with patterns, and kits. Check out my Instagram to find out more. I recently launched some heart-shaped craft scissors, as well as a couple of different doll patterns. I hope you like them!

Sewing Gift Ideas:
Alice Caroline:
I think it is fair to say most of us sewists love Liberty print fabrics, so I had to include a couple of gorgeous items from the lovely Alice Caroline. Not only do they stock gorgeous Liberty fabrics, including some Alice Caroline exclusive prints, but also some fabulous craft kits that make for the perfect gift. Here I have the 9-patch cushion kit, along with the Liberty Fabric Tana Lawn Rainbow Squares. As well as the fabrics, I was also smitten with the Liberty print tray which will be the perfect crafting buddy in the evenings on the sofa. Make sure to take a look at Alice Caroline here.
Patterntrace:
Next are a selection of sewing goodies from Patterntrace at Gutherie & Ghani, that are great stocking fillers, or would make a fabulous sewing-themed hamper! I love the organizational theme with the PDF pattern storage envelopes, Patterntrace spoolpod Thread and Bobbin Holder, Needle Store Box, and Garment Planner Notepad.
Check out more of the lovely items on the Gutherie and Ghani website in their gift guide round up.
The Eternal Maker:
If you’re looking for some little gift ideas perhaps to build a hamper, or for a stocking then these goodies from The Eternal Maker would be the perfect fit. Stock up on items like the 5″ woolfelt charm squares mystery selection, and pretty glittery Japanese threads by Sashika. There are loads of amazing sewing and craft items to choose from so have a browse either on the Eternal Maker website, or visit the gorgeous Chicester based store!
Craft Kits:
I love a craft kit, especially this time of year when I want to be cosy on the sofa and still keep my hands busy. The craft kits I have included in this gift guide are from small indie brands, but their branding, and attention to detail is so professional, and inspiring.
Slow Hands Society:
Starting with the Slow Hands Society Cross Stitch kit, one of Robyn’s fabulous designs; is the Smile Daisy Stamp Design Cross Stitch Kit! I love this one so much, and this is just one of many gorgeous crafty kits available. There are other cross stitch kits, as well as embroidery, and crafty kits that make the perfect gift for a friend.
Sheepers:
The next brand I discovered at the Stitch Festival, thanks to the awesome Indie Brand Village, which is a showcase of small indie brands building their businesses, thanks to Nerissa Pratt for founding, and organising this to support up-and-coming makers.
Introducing the Sheepers ‘Slip Kit’, which is a DIY Slipper Kit to make some gorgeous fluffy beauties in 2-3 hours, hell yeah! I’m a cosy girl through and through, so when I saw these I knew I had to make some, and what a great idea to gift someone instead of some boring ready-made slippers you can get anywhere. The kits include everything you need to make the slippers, so all you need to do is cosy up with your drink of choice and make them. You could gift a few to friends, and plan a cosy winter craft session, yes, please!
Personalised Gifts:
The Olive Home:
If you want to gift something personliased then check out the beautiful handmade wooden gifts from the Olive Home. They are based on the Isle of White and specialise in handcrafted wooden gifts. The unpicker and needle thread tool would make a special gift for someone, especially with the personalised lettering on the handles. I love the fact I have my name on them!
Other Cool Accessories:
Kate Blandford:
Do you love to organise your sewing supplies in cute ways? These stitching tools by Kate Blandford are so genius for organising your threads, needles, and other notions, whilst also looking incredibly cute and fun! Great gifts for sewing badasses who love a quirky gift with lots of personality.
Foxglove and Field:
Something I have owned for a few years now and love dearly is my Foxglove and Field Pattern Weights. They’re so aesthetically pleasing, whilst also being one of my most used items in my sewing room. Not only are they useful for cutting out projects, but I tend to find so many other uses for them as well. I use them to hold my paper photography backdrops flat, help flatten paper, and so many other things. The set here is the Liberty Spring fabric set but there are so many others to choose from as well as pin cushions, seam rippers, storage tins, and more.
Other brand mentions:
Lastly, I wanted to give some other shout-outs to brands that I love, who also have wonderful things for gifting. I wish I could showcase so many others as well but below is a list I think you will also love.
