Guess what’s back, back again! The Thrift Made Fun monthly feature is back on the blog, can I get a whoop whoop. Last year I started this feature but with my wedding day and job change, I ran out of time to focus on it. This year however I am bringing it back and I am so excited to work on thrifty content. Keep reading to hear all about this up-cycled embellished jacket and more information about Thrift Made Fun.
Thrift Made Fun Monthly Feature
Thrift Made Fun is all about thrifting second hand and vintage pieces of clothing. The monthly blog features will have an element of Make Do And Mend as well as ideas to upcycle and turn items from old to new. I’m passionate about seeking out treasures and seeing the potential in clothing. Often we think you can only be ‘stylish’ by buying what is new and on-trend. These blog posts will hopefully show you that thrifting can be amazing for finding beautiful things. With the added element of crafting, sewing and up-cycling you can make things really unique and special.
Up-cycled Embellished Jacket
I shared this up-cycled embellished jacket on my YouTube channel a couple of years ago but I really wanted to feature it here for Thrift Made Fun. Adding brooches, buttons and jewels are so simple to do but makes something look quite fancy and expensive. I collected up brooches and broken pieces of jewellery for this jacket and hand-sewed them on. Originally I was just going to sew them onto the collar but they are quite heavy so I spread them onto the shoulders as well. I hope this shows how easy it is to upcycle something to give it a new life. In the coming months, I will be talking about ways to change up thrifted items as well as hints and tips for shopping second hand. If you do the same make sure to share your creations on social with the hashtag #ThriftMadeFun
