Spring Trends | Mixing Old & New Pieces

The sun is shining, the days are slowly getting longer and this can only mean one thing, spring is coming. Every year I like to create a post all about Spring Trends and focus on my personal favourites. This year however I want to be a bit more frugal with my spending and conscious of my shopping habits. I’ve brought a few key pieces and am mixing with current items I own to show you how I’m dressing for spring.

Spring Styles

It’s so refreshing to see Spring Styles coming into stores and online. I picked up a few pieces from Asos that caught my eye. I want to show how you can repurpose older things in your wardrobe as well as shopping new. Each season you feel like you must get a new wardrobe but trends really don’t change that much. Making outfits feel fresh can be as simple as altering your accessories, layering or shoes.

Outfit 1 – Leather Jacket

This look features a new dress from Asos that is a perfect spring style! The pale blue shade is a gorgeous fresh colour to brighten your wardrobe and the long sleeves make it a great transitional dress on slightly chilly days. The dress itself is a statement piece and one you can dress up or down throughout spring. For this look, I wanted to show the ease of chucking on a black leather jacket – a staple in most of our wardrobes. A black leather goes with everything and can be worn with day or evening looks. Teamed with black ankle boots and gold accessories it ties the look together. The only new item is the dress but all the other pieces are things I own and wear over and over.

Outfit 2 – Accessories

This look features a basic most of us will have and that’s a pale or white jumper. The skirt is from Asos and is new in. I’ve kept the overall look fresh with gold and nude accessories and a statement pair of pop socks. The gold and pastels combined to create a great transitional look for spring. You could wear this skirt with a t-shirt or event a lace blouse for a dressed up or summer look.

I hope these two outfits inspire some very simple combinations for you to try. The beauty of Spring is being able to fall in love with last years summer clothes again. Have fun with layering; think jumpers, lightweight jackets, and cute socks.
