5 beauty tips for spring

Lets be honest with ourselves, with winter dragging on so long it is easy to let certain beauty habits slip away. For me it is the ‘I will shave my legs tomorrow’ excuse and the drying of my skin and hair that always dry no matter what I do. Spring is well and truly on it’s way, meaning less clothing and more sunshine outings so it is time to step up and get back on track with looking after yourself. I’m not suggesting this is for vanity reasons, but also for positive thinking and being at peace with your body. I wanted to share my personal tips as to what I am doing in the hope it inspires you. With a fresh thought process and pampering time, we can be more positive, happy and at ease with our bodies and mind.

1. Liz Earle – Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser – Rode & Cedrat limited edition. This is a great product for all skin types and works amazingly for me. I have problem skin that is sensitive, combination and with mild rosacea, so finding something to suit me has been really tough. I saw this beautiful special edition hot cloth cleanser and fell in love, rose is one of my favourite smells so I wanted to give it a try. The muslin cloths are amazing at gently exfoliating dead skin, for a fresh spring glow! They will get rid of all the nasty dryness from months of central heating and cold weather.

2. Treat your face! To help peace of mind I often like to take half an hour in the evenings (sometimes longer) to just enjoy a few indulgences. Face masks are a great way to freshen up dull and tired winter skin and also make you feel good. My favourite is the cooling cucumber clay mask because it refreshes and relaxes tired eyes and muscles, soothing any redness in my skin. These are a great treat to do with friends or on a Monday night after work!

3. Laser Hair Removal. I know hair removal isn’t to everyones taste, but personally I prefer to go without on my body. The trouble with spring and summer is having to constantly shave, causing irritation and redness – especially when out in the sun and if you have sensitive skin like mine. However, Something I am definitely considering is Laser hair removal because its a lot longer lasting. Pro Skin has treatment prices starting at only £49 with several clinics across London and the UK. It only causes very mild discomfort and redness for a few hours after treatment, requiring 1-8 treatments depending on the individual. It would be a great option if you are going travelling or want long term benefits of not having to buy razors and shave! Bring on the bare legs – mine are so pale they are almost transparent haha.

4. COCONUT!! I have raved about Coconut oil over on my Twitter, as been using it for a few weeks now. This is an amazing way to treat so many areas of your hair and body, I found a great list of 101 uses here. I personally love putting the coconut oil on my hair before washing (pre-poo) for an hour or sometimes longer, making my hair extremely soft and smooth. This big tub is only £2.99 from Sainsburies, but you can buy better quality organic versions from drug stores and pharmacies.

The minty coco box is a current teeth whitening treatment  I am doing, called ‘oil pulling’. I will be blogging before and after photos soon so keep an eye out for this.

5. Last but not least, body lotion and moisturising! This tip is more common sense than anything else, but one that is worth reminding. I always forget during winter to moisturise my body and it can become dull and dry from all the central heating. This particular body lotion is called grumpy cow from CowShed spas and it’s the best one I have ever used. All their products are full of natural ingredients with no sulphates and no animal testing. After a stressed day this one is great for uplifting because of it’s citrus and spicy smell, with Shea and Cocoa Butter, it’s a treat for the skin.

And that’s it! Not many tips but great ones to kick start your transformation into a more positive and healthy spring. It is important to give yourself a break from daily stresses and pamper your body and mind. These are my tips and luxuries, but what are yours? Let me know in the comments?
