DIY What you need

For this tutorial you will need the following:

How to:

Step 1 – Wrap the ribbon around the wooden hoop and glue along the hoop as you go. I ran out of pink ribbon annoyingly but I filled in the rest with a lime green and actually really liked the finished effect. You can use whatever colours you want, I think the added shade of green makes it even more colourful and fun.

Step 2 – Make the tassels by using a credit card and wrapping the wool around 16 times. Once on the card, cut a piece of wool and slide under the looped wool on the card and tie in the middle. Add a piece of white embroidery thread like in the photo above and tie onto the wool. To make the tassels tie another piece of wool a cm from the top.

Step 3 – Make 7 tassels for the bottom ones and 8 for the higher ones. Having the two different colours looks best and I went for a pale blue and matching pink to the hoop ribbon. Tie each tassel onto the hoop changing the size of the thread each time to give the pointed effect. This part can be a bit fiddly so take your time and measure with a ruler if it helps.

Step 4 – Using the hot glue gun again, glue on the flower gems like in the photo and a few pompoms. I went for 3 pompoms as a small detail but it would look really cute with more of them too.
