A couple of weeks ago my friend Steph and I went and stayed at B+B Wickham hotel. We went along with her two lovely spaniels, as the hotel is dog friendly. Getting away from London and unwinding in the countryside was bliss. Sometimes we all need a stay cation somewhere to unwind and relax and this place was great.
B+B Wickham
Steph is a great blogger, if you don’t already know then check her out here. She was invited along to stay for the weekend at the wonderful B+B chain, so asked me along. The hotel only have a few dotted around the UK but they come across as individual sites. This particular one happened to be located in the next village to my my home (where my mum lives) so I got to also pop in and see my family.
The setting in Wickham is a rather quant village with quiet surroundings. The room we were given was large with a sofa area for lounging, big bed, gorgeous bathroom with heated flooring and patio garden. It’s perfect for having the dogs as they supply dog beds and food for them.
We all got up early to the sound of pouring rain on the patio doors and snuggled in bed before getting up. We went for a lovely breakfast and the attention to detail was lovely. They gave the dogs biscuits while we ate to keep them preoccupied. The sun started shining so we go to enjoy the following day in the area fully.
Things to do in Wickham
Wickham is the next town away from Fareham, with a very small square at the heart of it. The hotel is located in Wickham square where there is also boutiques, cafes and pubs. During the day we took the doggies to the fields and woodland areas for walks. It was so much fun running about with the dogs, finding a rope swing and taking in all the fresh air.
For dinner we stopped by one of my Mums favourite local pubs called the Kings Head, which does all the regular pubby grub. Steph and I had burgers and they were delicious, as well as triple cooked homemade chips (making me salivate as I type). The following day we stopped by a cafe called Lily’s for tea and then walked round the corner to the old mill.
Being in the Countryside
Overall it was a lovely weekend visit with one of my closest friends. Getting to spend some time together was great especially with her amazing pooches. I highly recommend it for anyone needing a short getaway for peace and quiet. The countryside can be just what you need for recouping and leaving all your worries behind.
My outfit above is from the wonderful Monki and the trainers were because it was muddy!! I love these plaid trousers and velvet bomber jacket combination. Perfect comfy outfit for such occasions.
