Paige Joanna The Art Of Reflexology

This week I had the pleasure of trying out a new treatment that intrigued me entirely. Reflexology is based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond to different areas of the body. By working on these pressure points it is believed to aid relaxation, help improve well-being and mindfullness. I tested it out for myself so here is what I thought.

At the start of the treatment you write some personal information on a sheet to go over your health history, medication and a bit about yourself. I had a lovely lady called Emily Champ who made me feel very relaxed and welcome straight away. Emily works at the Lotus Spa in Wandsworth on Sunday and Monday each week if you are local and want to try it out.
We went over my health history together and talked through the steps of the treatment to get a clearer understanding of what it was about. Once the treatment began I instantly loved it. It started with about a 15 minute general massage on the feet, which relaxed me to the point of sleep. Then the reflexology treatment began and the only way I can describe the feeling is to say it’s like a slowed down massage, that for me made me feel really relaxed, more so than I ever have before. The pressure points sometimes made my nerves flinch but all in all it was definitely something I would go back and get again.
It is one of those things though, that you need to try for yourself because obviously everyone is different. If like me you have anxiety or just feel extremely tense then go check it out. It’s better if you like your feet being touched because, well, they are for over an hour…! I would recommend this as a treat to turn your phone off for an hour and be completely at one with yourself, your body and mind, it was certainly powerful for me. Sometimes we need to just give ourselves that break and this is a great way to do it. If you can completely shut off, wind down and enjoy the experience it will be amazing for you, just like it was for me.
Not forgetting world Reflexology week is coming up from the 19th – 25th September. Now is the perfect time to book yourself an appointment with your local specialist, enjoy!
