It’s time for another craft tutorial! This is an extremely easy and fun DIY for festival fans who want to wear something eye catching and unique. You will definitely make a statement in this feather headband, and all in just a few simple steps.

Watch the video to see how I made it:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

– Scissors
– Needle and Thread
– Glue Gun
– Feathers (I got mine on Ebay)
– An assortment of ribbons. At least 3 to plait around the wire.
– Twine/string
– Lace Ribbon
– Flexible Wire

How To:

Step 1: Measure wire around your head and cut the correct length to fit, then twist to attach both sides together.
Step 2: Cut your ribbons the same length as the wire circle (with slightly extra for tying up at the end).
Step 3: Tie the ribbons to the wire, preferably starting on the overlapped twisted wire connection (see this as the back of the head band).
Step 4: Start to plait or twist the ribbons around the wire and once you reach the end tie in a knot.
Step 5: Un-tie the original knot and connect the loose pieces to the other side. Then knot them to finish off – These will be made secure in the further steps so it doesn’t come undone.
Step 6: Now for adding the feathers, push them through the wire loops where the ribbon twists round them, then use the twine to loop round them and secure in place.
Step 7: Use a needle and thread to stitch the feathers to the ribbons and twine so they don’t fall out or move.
Step 8: Cut the ends off the feathers.
Step 9: Cut a piece of thick ribbon lace the same length as the first and last feather.
Step 10: Using a glu-gun, glue the lace ribbon on the band and feathers. This will not only secure everything but it will make the head band stronger and more resilient to wear.
I am attending Secret Garden Party festival next week and I will be wearing this along with other beautiful accessories. This feather style would look great worn with a boho 70’s outfit, or even denim shorts and a crochet top.
